Another understanding of this film is that overprotective parents could cause their children the loss of their instincts of self-preservation, and could also lead to tragic consequences. Sometimes, people who are too eager to be free will be desperate to find ways to break through the limit, and they might not be able to bear the consequences. This film is being sent as a message to raise awareness about seeking an escape from living in a sheltered life and losing one’s instinct of self- preservation. The second short film titled “American Male” by MTV was directed by director Michael Rohrbaugh. The techniques that were used to attract my attention are the voice over that was used. It makes me listen more attentively to the film in order to have a better understanding of this film. Moreover, a good cast can always make a film more interesting since the cast of this film clearly illustrated how a man becomes confused of his own gender and becomes dependent on the level of masculinity set by majority of society. It is said to be that a man who has a masculine identity should act more masculine than the woman who does not have masculine identity. Females are always known to be powerless and weak, on the other hand male always known to be powerful and strong compared to females.
