In the world the media is controlled primarily by the government or someone with immense wealth. These same people can manipulate the media to say what they want. The power of manipulation can control those that do not question it. This power over the media has great power over the gullible. This power can also control people that are afraid to say anything. There are also people that know what the media are doing but are too apathetic to do anything. A great example of media controlling those that do not question it is George Orwell’s novel Animal Farm which is allegory of the Russian Revolution.

People can feel as if they have to confide with society or be shunned by those around them. As seen very recently in the gay rights problem Australia is having. Those that support gay marriage in Australia would change their Facebook profile picture to have a rainbow filter. A lot of people would change their filter to the rainbow one not because they supported gay marriage but, because their friends would have the filter and would be they themselves would have to change theirs as to not upset their friends. Media can also use fear in general to control people. Say someone does not agree with what the media says and they cry out against the media; the media can use its power to either silence or turn people against them. This power can make people afraid to cry out against the media giving them immense power over people. In the book “Animal Farm” Napoleon, used fear to control the animals such as the four young pigs that cried out against him. In the end the four young pigs where killed at the hands of Napoleon’s dogs. Snowball on the other hand did not use fear to control the animals. The media use fear to control
