Dear friends, family, thanes, kings, and the people of Scotland, we are gathered here today to honor and grieve the loss of the bravest, most courageous, and kindest man I know. Banquo will be remembered as a good man who was taken away from us too soon. He was loyal, noble, and a great thane and warrior. He shall live on in his son, Fleance. Banquo was to be the next king, but tragically he never made it. He will be missed by many because he was loved by everyone. His soul will rest in peace unlike his murder Macbeth. Even though he suffered the ultimate betrayal at the hands of Macbeth, he will be honored past his death. He was dearly loved and will always be remembered as an amazing person. In Act 3 Scene 3 two murders are hired by Macbeth to kill Banquo. They find Banquo with his son, manage to kill him but let his son Fleance get away. “There’s but one down; the son is fled. We have the best half of our fair” (82). This scene is significant because it shows how Macbeth has gotten so paranoid that he ordered his best friend to be killed.…

Act 3’s dialogue is bizarre between Macbeth getting Banquo murdered and then the encounter with the supernatural itself. I particularly like the scene where Lady Macbeth covers up for Macbeth once again and claims he is not well and will get better but Macbeth acts upon it. Initiating a roaring conversation discussing about Banquo’s ghost, while with an unpleasant mood the audience stares. This scene grabs my attention because it’s skeptical on Macbeth’s side.…

In the production of The Tragedy of Macbeth there has been much debate over whether or not the ghost of Banquo should be portrayed by an actor or not in Act III Scene 4. This decision affects many parts of the play including production, and audience comprehension. In this essay I argue that it is more advantageous for no one to portray Banquo in this scene, as it will enhance ease of production and audience understanding. If the ghost of Banquo was not shown on stage then the audience would have a clearer understanding of Macbeth’s mental break and how it weakens the noble’s and lord’s confidence in their leader.…

It is evident through Macbeth’s soliloquies and actions throughout the play that he has been conquered by his tragic flaw. It is pronounced unambiguously that Macbeth’s conscience is hard at work. The fact that he sees Banquo’s ghost and other visions expresses that Macbeth is having difficulty living with himself. Macbeth’s life has been corrupted by the evils which he has performed and in facing death he receives a sort of atonement or reparation for his bad deeds. In this case the ending seems to be a just but tragic one.…
