To begin with, living in London was very hazardous in the 19th century. It was hazardous because the buildings were poorly made due to a conflagration and having to rebuild them fast and because they were so poorly made with a strong wind some buildings would collapse. It was also so hazardous because in the text someone said, “In these circumstances unbridle disease ran rampant, and even the smallest wound could lead to death by infection.” Lastly, it was hazardous to walk in alleys because criminals usually lurked there and because of that you would occasionally find dead corpses on the streets. For example, most residents had to use the sluggish murky water of the dam except for the wealthier people which could order water from certain companies. London was unsanitary because people didn’t have baths only in the wealthiest of homes they often thought they were bad. The same goes for toilets people would basically use chamber pots and through their business out the window. People would also throw their trash on the streets to let them decay.
