Many of the characters in Animal Farm are actually direct correlations to figures or institutions in the Soviet Union . Examples; old major symbolizes both KarlMarx and Vladimir Lenin the fathers of communism, Napoleon symbolizes Stalin whom led the Soviet Union, SnowBall symbolizes Trotsky a Rival of Stalin. Animal Farm gives examples of how revolutions start and sometimes end. The animals were given fuel to start an revolution an leader for the revolution, and even the fall of the revolution . Much of their actions and behaviors parallel the actions of the real Trotsky Vs. Stalin power struggle that took place during the years after Lenin’s death.Orwell’s Animal Farm starts off with the pig Old Major calling for a meeting to talk about how cruel men are and to tell them of his dream of a rebellion. Old Major represents Marx, who was one of the leaders of Communism in Russia. Old Major, had a dream about the animals overthrowing the farmer and taking the farm for themselves. Stalin was not as good of a speaker as Trotsky ether so he got what he wanted the only way he seen was possible, force. Trotsky was the one who had always organized the Red Army and gave the encouraging speeches that would connivence the people to let him continue what he was doing and what he wanted to do, everyone believed and wanted it to be him to take over Russia. Per contra, Stalin still managed to get rid Trotsky, he expelled him from the Communist party and killed him soon after that. Napoleon’s dogs are like Stalin’s secret police,Napoleon had trained his dogs since puppies to kill and fight for him, allowing him to rule with no one stepping up to take control because of the fear . If he did not get his way he sent the dogs out, comparatively, Stalin trained his secret police to do his dirty work when he ordered them to,the secret police killed between 60,000 and 70,000 people.The same things went on in the story after snowball left the farm. Another similarity between Napoleon and Stalin was the cruelty, Napoleon was so paranoid he held a meeting and accused several of the animals of planning with Snowball whom was long gone to destroy the farms windmill, he then killed the animals. Soon, he had the other animals confessing to other things and killed them on the spot as well
