Life of Pi is the story of a young indian boy Piscine Molitor Patel or “Pi” who is stranded in the middle of the pacific ocean along with an adult tiger for two hundred and twenty seven days. Pi explains that although he went to a christian school he never went to an church and that his curiosity is what caused him to believe in Jesus. He is told a story by a christian priest Father Martin about a boy and father resolving a sin, it ends with”I have decided that the only way the lions can atone for their sins is if I feed you to them”(pg.53). Pi doesn’t like the story and asks for another but all of the stories are similar. He compares to his own religion “ I couldn’t imagine lord krishna consenting to be stripped naked, whipped, mocked, dragged through the streets and, to top it off, crucified” (p.54), he finds the religion concerning.
