A case management conference occurs before the beginning of the trial, and works out how the court proceeding will progress. It is an opportunity for the parties to decide if they would like to find an alternative dispute resolution prior to going to trail. It is also a chance for both parties to make sure they understand the information provided by each other, and settle any issues before a trial commences.
Throughout my time at Land Court I learned a lot about the processes involved in the justice system. I also show the tremendous amount of paperwork that is involved with each case. I surprised me to see that cases being read from a paper copy, and not a digitized version. It is possible that the lack of technology being used in the courtroom was due to the small size of the district court, but I think it probably has more to do with the traditional procedures that the justice system revels in.
Overall, my experience at Land Court was both informative and exciting. From the moment that I walked into the courthouse I was eager to see what actually goes on inside. Now that I have had the opportunity to see first hand what goes on during a Land Court proceeding, I feel as though I have a much better understanding of the relationship between the justice system and real estate, as well as a deeper knowledge whole and procedures that are integral to its
