Act I, Scene VII depicts Lady Macbeth’s character as manipulative through a discussion with Macbeth. After having a moral dilemma, Macbeth decides against his initial plan of taking King Duncan's life. Upon hearing this, Lady Macbeth speaks with her husband and influences his mind through masterfully crafted words. She causes Macbeth to question his masculinity, naming him a coward and fool for abandoning his chance at supremacy. Through the power of influence Lady Macbeth successfully persuades Macbeth to carry through with their scheme. Manipulation is a main theme of this scene and a crucial characteristic of Lady Macbeth which carries throughout this Shakespearean fiction.
