In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini guilt and redemption heavily influenced the story being told. The plot twist of the story was Hassan being Baba's son, he tried to repay him with gifts in his childhood because he could not play the father role for him; he tried to soothe his guilt. Sanaubar left Hassan as soon as she gave birth to him, later on she resurfaced to try and make peace with him because she knew what she did was horrible. At the beginning of novel Rahim Khan was calling Amir because he had a way to redeem himself. The Kite Runner was mainly based around the guilt and how it drove the main character down the road of redemption.
