I noticed that in the book, The Girl I Used To Be, the main character, Ariel, didn’t get close to basically anyone until she moved back to her birth home. This is probably because she was still needing to know who murdered her parents and when she went back to her birth home people were willing to help her. When she was in the foster system, all people wanted to do was give her a new life and that was not what she wanted. I wonder if anyone besides Nora and Duncan realized that Ariel was Terry and Naomi’s daughter and they just didn’t say anything in the fear of being wrong.…

I saw Sheila Brown today. She continued to exhibit paranoia and delusion. Despite her acknowledgement of ‘feeling slightly out of whack’, she was adamant that her suspicion on both of your intentions and manners were real and unrelated to her psychotic symptom. She was specifically fixated on Kimberly’s ways of talking. What concern me the most is her statement about not being hesitate to fight if anyone, including the staff, continues to disrespect her.…

“Yes, I do have remorse, but I 'm not even sure myself whether it is as profound as it should be. I 've always wondered myself why I don 't feel remorse,” said Jeffrey Dahmer, the Milwaukee Cannibal. In the US there are around 16,238 murders per year, averaging to about 44 murders per day. How is it in a society that knows it is morally wrong to kill a person that it still continues? I 've always wondered why this trend is ongoing and believe there is more to uncover about why the murderers commit these crimes.…

Today I am going to talk, in very abridged form, a little bit about my experience of getting to know the amazing person who goes by the name of Cecilia Bernard, and what I have learned about her over the past three years of knowing her, which was both a fortunate and unfortunate event. Fortunate, obviously, because I got to meet her and see everything great about her. Unfortunate, though, as it took me as long as it did to meet her. What I first learned about her is that she was very open and inviting. I found this out on the way to New Orleans.…

According to Statistics Canada, there were 15 homicides in Hamilton that year (Statistics Canada 2013). One of the 15 murders in the Hamilton area was that of an Ancaster man by the name of Tim Bosma. Mr. Bosma was murdered on May 6th, 2013 during a test drive of his truck by Dellen Millard and Mark Smich after his truck was offered for sale on Kijiji. Many biological, psychological and sociological theories of crime could be applied to explain the desire to commit murder but in this case, Social Learning Theory and Rational Choice Theory offer the best rationalization (O’Grady 2014, 81-83, 99).…

In 2003, a German citizen, Armin Meiwes appeared in court for his crimes of murder and cannibalism. Although Mr. Meiwes confessed to these crimes, the case was not as straightforward as it sounds. The major twist to the story is that the victim in this instance, Bernd-Jurgen Brandes, willingly volunteered to take part in these gruesome acts. This case threw the German legal system for a loop. While the prosecution argued that since Mr. Meiwes killed a man and then proceeded to consume the victim over a period of time, he should be convicted of murder.…
