Thomas Jefferson noted that “Honesty is the first chapter of being wisdom.” There are many things in life I believe in. One belief I strongly agree with is that lying will get you nowhere in life. Lying impacts the relationships with your family and friends; every lie you tell turns into a bigger lie. I believe that all teens lie, and that is because all people lie. We often to do it to spare someone’s feelings, but we also lie for selfish reasons, for instance making us look good in someone else’s eyes. Many people lie so they do not get judged based on what their lives are or who they particularly are. There are two sides to lying to whether it is good or bad. People can become hurt from when people lie and some do not get hurt because they lied about something they really did not want to admit. It will make you think that lying is the right thing to do in a situation. Just think of it in this way; do you like when people lie to you? When you lie to someone it can significantly hurt them. For example, when a close friend of yours lies to you, it takes away the emotional and trust connection that you thought you had with them. In some way or another, people lie everyday so they would not have to get in trouble. Today, kids and teens lie to the parents about what they will be doing at night and where they are going, finishing their homework, or social media. The major reason for lying is to stay out of trouble when we know what we are doing is wrong. Lying to get out of trouble towards your parents can make you lose their trust if they catch you
