In The Circuit self-written by Francisco Jimenez, the author narrates a story of how he and his family of migrant workers arrived from Mexico to California in search of consistent work to provide for the family. On this day, February 16, 2017, our family refrained from daily activities such as school, work, shopping as a way of protesting with our fellow community members the increased anti-immigrant sentiment that has been felt in the recent time. Our family stands for compassion and humanity and when those around us are treated unfairly, it is our moral duty to stand up to both the blatant hatred and the indifference towards the former. This beautiful country was built on the backs of immigrants and on the principle of equality. We cannot stay silent when the future of our children is at risk.…

I think the Mexicans helped the Chinese immigrate to the United States effectively because the Chinese’s goal was to cross the border without being arrested. Third, when the Mexicans helped the Chinese disguised as members of another race to cross the border undetected was a very creative idea. It was successful too because the border officials cannot distinguish these Chinese from a member of another race. The article makes me realize that the immigration laws get stricter over…

I did not really know what to think when I started reading Labor and Legality by Ruth Gomberg-Munoz. I did not really know about the topic of Mexican immigration and their need to find work in the U.S. Honestly, most of my knowledge came from the media and what I had previously learned about how it was wrong that Mexicans were coming into the U.S and “stealing” our jobs away. However, this book changed my opinion drastically about not only the struggle that immigrant Mexican workers face coming to the U.S, but how we (the united states) as a country, only think about ourselves, instead of thinking of a broader world view of the situation. That, is what I am going to talk about in my paper, the U.S refusal to look at the immigrant network in…

In reality these immigrants do jobs others would not do, and they do it for little pay. In one of President Carter’s speeches he states, “…the hiring of undocumented aliens at sub-minimum wages, thereby often displacing workers”. Carter knows that most immigrants use this underpay to provide for their families, one of his concerns was there not being enough jobs. I am sure of there being enough jobs, especially when all these immigrants want to do is provide for their family. They would be willing to strive and do absolutely anything to make their family’s life better and give them everything they possibly could.…
