David Entwistle the author of “Integrative Approaches to Psychology and Christianity” goes into great depth in explaining the integration of psychology and Christianity by introducing different worldviews and philosophical foundations that form a relationship between psychology and Christianity. Entwistle also explains the history aspects between the two from faith and science then moves into the different models of integration explaining how they can co-exist with another. With understanding of both the question that is frequently asked is “can psychology and theology can co-exist with one other?” and Entwistle gives the answer yes in his book by a simple statement “all truth is God’s truth, so that wherever and however truth is discovered, its author is God” (Entwistle, 2010, p. 13). Going on connecting the historical views Entwistle breaks down in the first two chapters about how psychology and Christianity interacted throughout history by calling it science and theology. The first one that is discussed is enemies, which is based on the antagonistic model that can relate to psychology or Christianity being that cannot be brought or work together at all (Entwistle, 2010). Spies model was to seek information from the other side to benefit their own side and it has two types: the foreign spies and the domestic spies. The domestic spies are an inside job that main focus is on psychology using their own beliefs in a melted down religion (Entwistle, 2010). A foreign spy does not have a commitment to a religion, but wants to use it for resources (Entwistle, 2010). Next was the colonialist, and this group takes what is most beneficial in psychology to use toward their beliefs that are more orthodox. Neutral parties looks at psychology and Christianity individually believing that both have their own ways and there is a separation between the two but recognizes that they can have some correspondences (Entwistle, 2010).
