Formative Assessment In The Classroom

What Classroom-based assessment meant by what I understood, was that it is different assessments that the teachers use in the classroom all the time. I believe the difference she has said was like the more teacher use assessment, the less “hit or miss” decisions will be. What is meant by stance of persistent curiosity is the attitude of being curious, learning new things every day, think of wonder, observe, curious and being interested. The difference is that formative assessment is for teaching and learning while Summative is for reporting. The steps of the assessment cycle are ask questions, collect evidence, interpret evidence, and take actions.
One of my experiences that involves asking questions was when I was with my cousin and her 2-year-old son and he was trying to read a book. I asked myself how well does Jaxson know about reading at his age, and exactly know what books are for. My one experience with collecting evidence would have to be last week actually when I was doing my observations. There was a little girl who was trying to read to her friend around where I was sitting. I was listening to her and watching her trying to figure out some of the words that she couldn’t understand.

The way I could use assessment to foster partnerships with parents is by staying open-minded and thoughtful. It helps understand families and helps build more use and productive relationships. The three things that I learned through this webinar is the steps of the assessment cycle, stance of persistent, and effective feedback.
