Sheep brain dissection is an efficient hands on activity that allows students to examine and observe the structures of the brain. Brain dissection of any kind usually come with a set of procedures which guide the students to conduct the activity. Brain dissection also gives the students the opportunity to create implications, piece a part of their human identity, and understand anatomy. Brain dissection helps study connections that lay in a brain, and gives you the chance to communicate with others to obtain more knowledge on the brain. To conclude, brain dissection helps students see what makes a brain a brain.
The sheep brain dissection could use a few improvements and extensions. To begin with, I think that …show more content…
For example, if a frog and sheep brain were compared, many things could be discussed. This would aid our understanding on the brain because we’d be able to create detailed, reasoned thoughts on specific functions. In order to create these thoughts, you at least need to identify the different parts of the brain which already gives you an understanding of them. By comparing and contrasting you are creating implications and that's what develops a better understanding of the brain. For instance, if the frog has a smaller frontal lobe than a sheep, then it indicates or implies different behavioral actions or decisions. The next extension, I’d like to add is exploring nerves and veins. While researching structures of the brain, I noticed that many of the structures contained veins and cranial nerves and many somehow intertwined with each other. This unique addition would allow students not only knowing what structure these veins fall in, but where they connect to. Knowing how each structure connect definitely would broaden our knowledge on the brain. Another extension I feel would be necessarily good to add in the sheep brain dissection is separating the lobes. Separating the lobes would be an adequate way of
