Welcome anywhere in town, kept to themselves, a predilection unforgivable in Maycomb” (Lee 11). This shows that Boo is locked up because, he never leaves the house, and he never sees the outdoors and the people who he lives around. The second reason that Boo is locked up is that Jem and Scout have never seen him. In the book it says, “People said he existed, but Jem and I had never seen him” (Lee 10). This shows that boo is locked up because Jem is ten years old and he has never seen Boo so he has not been out of the house in at least ten years. The third reason Boo is locked up is that not very many people come and go from the Radley place. In the text it states, “and he was one of the few persons we ever saw ever enter or leave the place” (Lee 14). First, the Ewells are extremely disrespectful. One of the reasons they can be considered disrespectful is that they talk back to the teacher. In the text Burris says, “You just remember that you ain’t makin’ me go nowhere” (Lee 37). This shows that the Ewells are disrespectful because Burris just told his teacher that she can’t make him do anything and she is in charge. Second, the Ewells can be characterized as disrespectful because they never come to school. The text states, “They come the first day every year then leave” (Lee 36). This explains that the Ewells are disrespectful because they do not bother to care about their education and they do not respect that getting an education will help them in the future in order to get better jobs than farming. The last reason that the Ewells can be considered disrespectful is that Burris swore and called the teacher names. In the text Burris says, “Ain’t no snot-nosed slut of a schoolteacher ever born c’n make me do nothin’” (Lee 37). This shows that the Ewells are disrespectful because Burris had the nerve to call his new schoolteacher a slut and the proceeded to leave the room and disrespect her. The second adjective to describe the Ewells is dirty. The first reason they can be seen as dirty is that they do not wear shoes. This demonstrates that the Ewells are dirty because they walk around the farms and the streets and also they school yard with out protection on their
