I am the president of Cheney High School’s Future Business Leaders of America club. This role has allowed me to lead the club in spirit competitions, chapter meetings, regional conferences, and soon, state and national conferences. After looking up to previous FBLA presidents as role models, I relish the chance to give advice to younger members and help them achieve success. Reflection Growth Plan At the beginning of the course, I felt as though I knew the basics of what it would take to become an educational leader. Through assigned readings, class discussions and the ISLLC School Leadership Self Inventory I’m certain that the learning has just begun. In preparing my Artifacts Notebook, I chose resources that I feel I will be able to rely upon on my journey to and through leadership. I chose to include my quotes assignment, vision paper, ISLLC Standards, ISLLC School Leadership Profile, Good to Great and the Social Sectors, and a copy of a recent Marshall Memo.…

As a 16-year-old, I never considered myself a leader. In my junior year of high-school, I had the opportunity to participate in Link Crew. Had I not been nominated by my favorite math teacher, I’m not sure I would have even considered joining. However, I am glad I ended up joining because Link Crew was an overall great experience that allowed me to mature and truly understand the concept of a leader. I learned to become tolerant of others, to become more comfortable in speaking to a group of strangers and to lead younger individuals.…

I love business because it just seems to click, so I joined Future Business Leaders of America. Our little community of FBLA members had a common theme: being competitive. I went to State in FBLA as a voting delegate, but I realized not every school had as much school spirit and heart into everything they do. I continued to be in FBLA, but I wanted more for myself and my school. I wanted to make everybody know that South Shelby is the best and is involved.…

I was fortunate enough to attend the 2016 H. W. Sumners Leadership Conference where I would have the opportunity to meet a unique pool of influential individuals. Most of my leadership experiences had come from group projects with students who I were familiar with, and the conference gave me the chance to become a team with strangers from across the United States and Mexico.
