VISITOR SAFETY
1.0 Purpose
1.1 This policy outlines the rules and requirements for admitting any visitor to General Pipe’s property.
2.0 General Requirements
2.1 With the exception of mail carriers and delivery drivers “Visitor” shall be defined as any person not assigned to a work area and/or who is not involved in the work process on a day-to-day basis.
2.2 All visitors are expected to abide by applicable safety requirements as outlined by General Pipe, OSHA, and other government bodies having authority.
2.3 Upon entering the property visitors shall be provided safety glasses, hearing protection, etc., where necessary unless they have their own equipment.

2.0 Subcontractor Safety and Health Requirements for Pre-bid
2.1 Pre-qualification General Pipe will include review of the subcontractor’s:
2.1.1 OSHA 300A log for the last three years;
2.1.2 OSHA experience regarding any previous inspections or citations;
2.1.3 Written safety and health programs as required by General Pipe and/or the owner;
2.1.4 Workers’ compensation insurance EMR (Experience Modification Rating) information;
2.1.5 Proof of insurance documented by a current certificate of insurance from the subcontractor’s insurance agent(s).
2.2 Review and evaluation will be performed by General Pipe’s V.P. of EH&S.
3.0 Measurements of Workplace Safety and Health Results

3.3 Specific safety metrics to be considered during subcontractor pre-qualification will include, but are not limited to, items 2.1.1 through 2.1.5 above.
3.4 Safety metrics will be utilized to help evaluate when, where, and how safety programs and initiatives have been successful, and also to identify areas that require additional attention.
3.5 Subcontractor safety performance will be reviewed and evaluated in part through comparisons of the subcontractor’s safety metrics with levels of accomplishment as identified by General Pipe.
3.6 Subcontractors that evidence safety metrics that are not in accordance with project requirements will not be utilized for that specific project;
3.7 All determinations of acceptability of a subcontractor’s safety metrics, as requested and reviewed in accordance with this program, will be made by General Pipe and/or the host employer.
4.0 Inclusion and Participation of Subcontractors in Project Safety Initiatives
