Honorable man…what is an honorable man? A man who brings or is worthy of honor. Now in Brutus’s case you guys should feel upset by the way he turns against the person he would call a “friend”. I am his wife and I would know more about this more than any other person who claims to “know” Brutus, and as his wife I am ashamed of the things he has done. After the catastrophe that my husband has made, he is dishonorable because he is gullible, unreliable, and he is manipulative.
One of the reasons why Brutus is dishonorable is because he is gullible. By that I mean that he is influenced into killing his so called “friend” very easily. For example, “ What means this shouting? I do fear the people choose Caesar for their king. Ay, do you fear it? Then must I think you would not have it so. I would not, Cassius, yet I love him well” (35). By this you can understand, how even though Brutus says he loves Caesar, he cannot let Caesar become king. Another example is, “It must be his death. And for my part I know no personal cause to spurn at him, but for the general.

Let us not break with him, for he will never follow anything that other men begin” (67). Brutus’s acquaintances, wanted to add Cicero to their group but Brutus didn’t want him to be added. From the beginning of the play to the end, Brutus seems to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. Until he is persuaded to be against someone or they prove themselves a threat to Brutus, he will help them with their needs, even if this means doing nothing to stop them. An example of this is when Brutus allows Antony to give his speech, even though Antony had intentions of driving the crowd against Brutus and his team. Even though Cassius warned Brutus of this possibility, Brutus shrugs it off, hoping for the best.…

His love for Rome is greater than his love for Caesar so after hearing this, Brutus agrees to help Cassius kill Caesar because he believes Caesar is ambitious although “[he knows] no personal cause to spurn at him But for the general.” (II.i.10-11) His easily manipulative mind is twisted by Cassius’ lies which displays the hamartia Brutus possesses proving that he is the tragic hero. Brutus is persuaded enough to side with the conspirators and aid them in their plot to kill Caesar. He thinks that what he is doing is right; because it is for the people of Rome but in reality his motives were influenced by Cassius whose motive is out of…

Brutus shows his gullible nature when he chose to interfere in the suggestion of killing Antony as well as Caesar. Although it had been honorable for Brutus to not wish for more death in their scheme it had also been foolish to not look further into the situation and assess Antony’s capabilities. Brutus just disregarded Antony like he had not been a threat in the least bit. Brutus shows wishful thinking and gullibility when he let Antony deceive him into thinking that all he planned on doing had been to give Caesar an honorable funeral speech and not talk down upon the conspirators. Consequently, Brutus only thought about what Caesar could do to Rome and thus only cared about those consequences, when he should have determined that Antony could do much worse.…

He took the plan on as his own and then worked to set guidelines for the others to follow as if it were his idea from the start. He becomes so caught up in this that he is unable to see the varying reasons the other conspirators held for killing Caesar. When Brutus agreed to the plan and assisted in the killing of Caesar, his appearance of a noble man of Rome changed and he is now viewed as a full fledge conspirator. This is also seen later when Shakespeare writes “Good Gentlemen, look fresh and merrily./ Let not our looks put on our purposes,/ But bear it as our Roman actors do,/ With untired spirits and formal constancy./ And so good morrow to you every one.”…
