Willy was out during a road trip, as he got a little above the Yonkers he begins to drift onto the shoulder in his car. He then proceeded home.
Willy says he cannot work in New York because he belongs in New England.
In the first scene, Willy contradicts himself about how much money he was making and that he wasn’t jealous of his neighbor.
The problem between Biff & Willy is that Willy thinks Biff is extremely lazy.
Happy doesn’t go west with Biff because he’s making money in the city. He has everything he wants.

Act Two
Early that morning Biff goes to see Mr. Oliver.
Willy decided to talk to Howard about the New York. Because of Willy’s conversation with Howard, Willy is fired.
Willy had inflated his own business worth to Linda, so that when the opportunity came, Linda didn’t see the need, since Willy was already thought to be on a great career path.
After his conversation with Howard, Willy goes to see Charley for money to cover his life insurance premium payment.
Willy asks Bernard what was wrong with Biff and why didn’t he do anything with his life after the age of 17.
Bernard’s reply was Biff was ready to go to summer school to make up math class, but when he returned from Boston, he gave up.
If Willy work for Charley, he would admit that his whole life had been wrong.
Because of Biff’s meeting with Bill Oliver, Biff got brushed aside. He would never get the money, and he would have no more meetings with Bill Oliver.
