In this paper I will describe the pathophysiology of end-stage kidney disease. End-stage kidney disease is the final stage of chronic kidney disease. I will also compare the pathophysiology that I found through research and compare it to the patient that I was assigned that suffered from end-stage kidney disease.
End-stage kidney disease (ESKD) is the last and final stage of chronic kidney disease (CKD) (Headley, 2014). Chronic kidney disease is characterized by the progressive loss of kidney function and this loss is irreversible (Headley, 2014). Kidney damage present or a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of less than 60 mL/min/1.73m3, which has been present for more than three months, both define chronic kidney disease
