That day I was awoken by people screaming and crying. At first I thought the boat was sinking, but when I finally made it above deck I saw the most beautiful thing ever. The statue of liberty loomed in the sky like a goddess waiting to be praised. I almost started crying myself. Then we landed at the most difficult part of my journey, Ellis Island. This is where hundreds of thousands of immigrants passed through. Some made it, others were deported. I practically ran off the boat. I was met by immigrant officials wearing green uniforms. “Take your number and move along,” one of the officials yelled at me.
