Autistic children have a hard time communicating what they feel and have trouble building relationships with other children and adults. According to Serendip Studio, music therapy is a way to help these children communicate better and destroy the barrier between an autistic and a non-autistic child. Music is a way a child can speak without using words. As stated earlier, music is a universal language that all people can relate to and understand in one way or another. By using music, autistic children can learn to trust other people and develop tools for learning. Using singing techniques can help a child by getting them used to speaking more. One unexplained fact about music therapy is that autistic children have a strong liking for music. It is something that they can understand and connect with on a deep level. Music therapy is an amazing solution for these problems. Both hemispheres of the brain can be improved by music. This is extremely crucial to helping someone who has mental problems. By using music, a therapist can help “build bridges” in the child’s mind by getting them to finish music, melodies, or lyrics. As mentioned before, autistic children have to be taught to act a certain way. Music does help with this, but is a mostly mental challenge.
