Shootings happen all the time all around the world and they are a serious problem. One type of shooting that is particularly important is a drive by. These have been happening for a while now and were a lot more common in the late 90s. While this type of shooting is not so common anymore it is still an issue in our world today. Gang violence and gun possession are some reasons why drive by shootings happen, also what they are and when they mostly occur.
People in our world wonder what these drive by shootings are and when they occur most. In an article it covered this when the text stated, “A drive-by shooting refers to an incident when someone fires a gun from a vehicle at another vehicle, a person, a structure, or another stationary object.

In the article it also covered this when the text stated, “Depending on whether the drive–by shooting is gang–related or not, motivations differ. Those that are gang–involved tend to be motivated by mutual antagonism with rival gang members, disputes over territory or turf, a desire to show fearlessness or loyalty to the group, an effort to promote one’s social status or self–image, or retaliation against real or perceived disrespect or insults” (Dedel). This is showing that drive by shootings are especially bad because anything gang related is always very serious. While the gang related drive by is bad enough, these in some cases can cause deaths and trigger more of these to happen in revenge. Although both juveniles and adults participate in them, most research on drive–by shootings has focused on the prevalence of gun ownership among adolescents.
