Donatello's gothic style was seen more in his early life. In Donatello's early work, 1408, was back working cathedral. In the exact same year Donatello made a life-sized made out of marble sculpture, which was David. Also, which was in a gothic style, of course now in style. Donatello has been working with classical art his facial looks were extravagant. This all happened before Donatello was 20 years young. Donatello was supposed to purposely place the sculpture in the cathedral, but was placed instead in the town hall, Palazzo Vecchio. The reason for this is because they, the people, thought it was an inspirational or great belief that it was a symbol of strength to Florentines, who had a great amount of weakness with the King of Naples in that period. This made him get out more and started getting recognized. As he realized this, he started to get more to the emotional facial expressions, the more classical dramatic in the style of his own. Because of this Donatello started creating more and more sculptures like St. Mark and St. John. But after Donatello made and created those two gothic style sculptures he wanted to go for the more classical art technique. With all his work with amazing passionate techniques for sculpting, all this practice has made him make sculptures so huge! The sculptures were bigger and larger than actual human beings and took up huge amount of space.
