Almost forty years after the Israelites were sentenced to wander in the wilderness, Moses started telling the people what God had told him about them. Moses reminded the people of all of the events that had happened to them. He reminded them what God had promised, the sins that they committed against God, and the punishments that God had put upon them as a nation. He told them it was now time to enter into the Promised Land. Moses reminded the nation that they had to be obedient to God. He also reminded them what had happened in the past, both the good and the bad. I believe Moses knew that this nation would not always stay as God’s favored nation, because every time the going got tough, they grumbled and complained and even went against what God told them to do. How is this significant today and in my life? I, and probably most Christians alive today are not unlike the Israelites. We know what God has promised us, and we know what we are supposed to do to get it. But we still continue to go against God. We still continue to grumble when we do not have the things we think we need. We are not always thankful for the things God has given us. We continue to sin. But I think the biggest trouble that Christian’s have today is that we do not share our history with our future generations. I know that personally only one of my nieces and nephews even really know who God is. It is not that their parents do not believe, it is that they do not always agree what they believe collectively and they are too busy to share what they do believe with their children. What this means for me is that I must try harder to share what I believe and why I believe it. I must look harder for a church home that shares my beliefs and invite the younger generation to see why God is well
