2. Napoleon during his time, was seen as a heroic figure, one who was a valiant leader, fought for freedom, and equal rights. However now looking back, we see him as a tyrant. Napoleon is a paradoxical figure because it is logically a mystery as to how he became, at best, a fallen hero.
3. The ideal Romantic Hero is one who rejects established norms/conventions. Generally, this is a person who has been rejected by society and considers himself the center of his existence. Hegel's dialect can be described as a system of logic, proceeding from thesis to antithesis to synthesis. Hegel's “Great Man Theory” is a theory which says that history can be explained by the impact great men have had throughout history. Some flaws of this theory include the fact that history is simply not entirely “great”. Believing that we can be educated by merely ignoring the bad is incorrect.
