If I had a penny every time an adult exclaimed, “high school goes by in the blink of an eye,” I wouldn’t have to write this essay. I hadn't taken to heart these words of wisdom until last summer. I’d walked into school each day as a freshmen, not comprehending I’m the opposite. My senior year arrived. Twelve years of my life took flight. In just one blink.
Senior year I began my quest for colleges that caught my eye. Like most quests, the treasure chest I uncovered didn’t overflow with gold or diamonds - but with self discovery. Resembling clockwork, the Army recruiter came to educate our NJROTC class. And for once, reason unknown, he seized my full attention.
