While studying the upper level science courses, I was prompted to think in ways I never had before. I became a tutor, however to my surprise, I found myself teaching the Spanish language to biology students. My ten years of experience studying the language prior to college became a valuable asset not only from an academic standpoint, but it has also allowed me to form relationships with people I would never have met otherwise. College was also the point in my path where I was introduced to the greatest invention ever made, the whiteboard. Courses such as organic chemistry and physics were of the more intimidating on the list of requirements for a biology degree. Fortunately though, despite some brief moments of doubt, I was able to find my motivation and flip, expand, and reduce carbon rings all over the board until a solution was met. Whether it was illustrating metabolic pathways or filming an anatomy dissection tutorial video, learning and teaching through art became a true passion of mine. By shifting among a wide variety of talents, studies, and interests, I believe my versatility is similar to that of a physician assistant’s, who has the ability to transfer their skills and knowledge from one specialty to another. With the perspectives I gained from my studies at the University of North Texas, I feel confident in my ability to come to innovative solutions that both doctors and patient would expect from a reliable physician
