In William Shakespeare’s play, Mucho Ado About Nothing, the characters change throughout the play in either a negative or positive way. One of the characters that changed was Benedick. Benedick changed his attitude for women and love from the beginning of the play until the very end.
At start of the play, Benedick was a character who was very witty and fond of mocking other people with elaborate jokes, comparisons, and puns. He swears he will never marry, as he is critical of women and does not trust any of them not to cheat to him. Benedick says to Beatrice,” … but it is certain I am loved of all ladies, only you excepted. And I would I could find in my heart that I had not a hard heart, for truly I love none”. (1.1.100)
