There are several factors that Tom developed after his wife’s death that could be dangerous to his health. One of these include that he now likes to “sit in front of the television for most of the day without actually remembering what is was that he had seen” (Jett & Touhy, 2016). Also, the case showed that before Tom started going to the senior center that he got no social interaction at all because all of his friends moved away and his daughter lived 45 minutes away from his house. These have become major problems in his life because they have been going on daily for almost a year.

The nurse would want to know this because it is important to know if the patient has a support system that helps him.
7) Do you have a typical exercise regimen that you follow such as walking?
This will provide information on whether the client gets any exercise in their daily lives outside of the home and daily chores.
8) Would you say that your activity level has changed in the last year?
This question will tell the nurse if the patient’s activity level has changed due to the passing of his wife without directly mentioning it the patient in order to try to be sensitive to the situation but yet still get a full picture about his activity level.
9) Do you still work for a living? If not, when did you retire?
By asking this question, the nurse can see if the patient is active in a workplace, and by asking when they retired, you can start to see how much of their activity level was changed after the patient retired.
10) Are there any stairs in your home that you climb on a daily basis?
This will provide insight on if the patient gets any other form of exercise within the household besides just walking around do daily living
