Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs Abraham Maslow came up with a set of individually required needs that are sufficient for one to commence a journey into self actualization. VanCity has ensured a great and consistent workforce that enables their employees to Self Actualize. The ways that they provide room for improvement are as follows:
Lower-order needs: Focus is something usually dependant on the security and safe environment of a person. If something troubles a person or can put them in danger they can be a victim of constant anxiety. Safety from hazardous substances, dangerous procedures and harassment are a few of the major factors in workplace safety.

Social Responsibility VanCity believes in creating shared values (aka CSV) by which they depend on the wellbeing of their employees and social responsibility. Wellness Programs S.C. Johnson focuses more on the paid leaves and sick leaves creating a trust between the employees and the company. For example, employees who have worked for over a year have two weeks of fully paid sick leave and an additional 24 weeks at two-thirds pay. Employees who have worked for more than five years can take 10 weeks of sick leave at full pay, and 16 weeks at two-thirds of their regular salary.

With more satisfied employees, the company spends less money on hiring. One-Quarter of its workforce has been employed by the company for over 15 years. Moreover, in their entire history, they have never had to fire anyone.
