According to the International Labour Organization, there is an estimated 250 million children working in the developing countries, of whom at least 120 million are working full time (Child Labour, 2018). This estimate of child labour is variable as what governments constitute as child labour is different across parts of the world. However, no matter which estimate we look at, it is an indisputable fact that child labour is a troubling issue. There are children who are working in hazardous conditions - including work in mines and quarries - risking injury; there are others working hours that take a definite toll on the children's mental and spiritual health (Roggero, Paola, et al.2007). These efforts are expectantly supposed to lower the activity of child labor in developing countries and thereby improve children's welfare. On the other hand, these types of international action on child labor tend to lower domestic governmental support within developing countries. Thus, international labor standards and product boycotts can cause a delay in the elimination of child labour overall (Child labour, 2011). The effective call to action is for wealthier countries to assist and impose the addition of more effective and enforced laws. Even if government ban on child labour was an effective solution, the consequences could be dangerous for those household that rely on this practice out of financial desperation (Palley, 2002). Further, the problem is therefore a result of government ineffectiveness at enforcing these important labour laws. In many countries, inspection systems are not efficiently developed or sometimes legislation is difficult to enforce (2002). Also, in some cases it is the negligence that is at root of the problem.
