For example he includes the goals and dreams of Charlie “Then I’ll be able to read and spell the words good and know lots of things and be like other people.” Keyes includes this because he wants the reader to feel how Charlie feels about meeting his goals and how he’s willing to do anything to be like everyone else. Another example is “Besides history, geography, and arithmetic, Miss Kinnian said I should start to learn a few foreign languages.
