Indeed, Augustine of Hippo called also Saint Augustin, was born on November 354 in Numidia, a Roman province in North Africa. Saint Augustin is at the same time a philosopher and a Christian theologian, his father was a pagan Roman citizen and his mother a Christian of Berber origin that passed her faith to her children and to her husband at the end of her life. With his important writings, Saint Augustin is viewed as the most important Church fathers in Western Christianity. His book Confessions, describes a spiritual pilgrimage from paganism to Christianity. In his book, Saint Augustin admits his sins to God and explain his doubts about God’s existence, his love of pride and sex and his interest for different religions and his constant pursue to find the truth. “‘Where then is evil? What is its origin? How did it steal into the world? Where then does evil come from, if God made all things and, because he is good, made them good too?’” (Book. VII, 5, p. 138). Whenever Augustin tries to find answer to his question and confess his sins he is absorbed by a dualistic religious system called Manicheism. Manicheism is a system based on a conflict between light and darkness. It spread widely in the Roman Empire and in Asia. In Confession, Augustine endorse a dominant political place. Willing to spread his new cult, he organized debates between Christians and Pagans in Cartago. Besides, Augustin is until today an example for people and a reference to whom is searching for answer to faith. Moreover, the whole process of Augustin’s conversion to Christianism is considered as the paradigmatic example of this phenomenon. Centuries later after his writing, people still use Augustin as a main voice of Christianity. Followed by Thomas Aquinas’ philosophy Augustin’s philosophy remain influential on Christian’s thought.
