Three of these programs are, as previously mentioned, food stamps, the special supplemental nutrition program for Women, Infants and children (WIC), and the National Nutrition Monitoring and Related Research act of 1990. Food stamps is probably the most widely known government program working to fight hunger in America. This program aids in reducing food insecurity because it is focused on providing the most assistance to those who really need the most assistance (Rosenbaum, 2005). Low-income people on food stamps have a greater availability to vital nutrients, otherwise completely out of their reach (Rosenbaum 205).
