While death is the most extreme outcome, it is still the largest overall risk. FGM reflects severe gender discrimination, divides the women from the men, and puts men on a podium. Women and men should be treated equally and be respected in the same way. Men should not be in control of a women’s body and women should not have to subject themselves to men in order to be wanted. While Female genital mutilation is a cultural practice and has been around thousands of years it is a harmful procedure that hurts women physical and emotionally. This practice has become too harmful based upon the outcomes that can result if it to still be allowed. Women shouldn’t have to subject themselves to it or feel pressured. Women need to take a stand and not make the same mistakes with their children and teach them what really matters. Women need to be taught of the dangers of the procedure and let the tradition
