A form that is used in the initial stages of the FBA process. It is used to identify and describe the variables that set the occasion for or trigger the interfering behavior. The AVAF contains 4 variables that are related to the interfering behavior.
1) Broad Classroom Environment: Noise, visual stimulation, time of day, specific classroom.
2) Instruction: specific tasks/subjects, types of assignments, task difficulty, response to errors, pace or type of instruction, choice
3) Social: specific people present, number of people, proximity, other’s behavior
4) Transition: to or from certain tasks/activities, change in routine, during transportation times
