In Jackson's head this was probably the best thing a president has ever done, but in reality it was an awful idea. Andrew Jackson was the leader of a campaign given the name Bank War. In 1832 Jackson vetoed a bill requesting for an early renewal of the Second Bank. Andrew Jackson had already fired two Secretaries of Treasury until he hired one that shared his common interest. After that happened Jackson announced that starting October 1st, Federal Funds will no longer go to the national bank and instead the funds would go to 23 different state banks. Nicholas Biddle the president of the bank was shocked by this move from Jackson, so he had to make counter moves. Biddle started to present state bank notes for redemption, calling in loans, and contracting credit. Business men went to Washington DC in hope to be able to argue back to end the Bank War, but in reality the Bank War relied on who would win the intense debates in congress. In the end the federal deposits were not returned to the second bank and it’s Charter expired, with that happening the National Bank system was now destroyed. Although he did help many farmers who were being put into poverty since they were being ignored, as the businessmen were the main focus of the national bank. This is one of the biggest if not the biggest mistakes Jackson made in his term and will never be forgotten, this is a big factor because it shows that he clearly does not support America’s banking system so why put him on the face of one of the most used
