Five initial selections and reasons as to why you selected these?
The five people I initially selected to save from the ever lurking of the great abys were Emmanuel, Daisy, Lola, Mohammed and Megan. My reasoning for this thinking was in regards to procreation as I believed this would be important for the long jeopardy of the space settlement. In general, also young people have a better chance of survival and tend to be healthier which I believed was important for the remaining time that was going to be spent in transit together. Others thought that this made her untrustworthy and also believed that this could cause tension and possible conflict between her Faizana. Personally, I don’t not believe that stealing from the rich and giving to the poor is completely unethical and this did not persuade me to have a strong shift in my judgement of Lola. I also think that the two women would be forced to resolve and issues between them due to the unordinary circumstances and also due to the fact they were both lucky to be alive. Another controversial decision I came across in conversion with others was deciding to eliminate Daisy from our selections as some argued that she was a poor defenceless girl and deserved to live. They also brought attention the fact that there were many people working on a cure for space leprosy and that she could possibly be cured. Personally, I think that it Is a lot of resources for something that is not guaranteed and also believe that people who used this reasoning had to consider Daisy in every other person they chose to save as to whether or not that would be a benefit to her cure and I thought this was a bit extreme and overall unnecessary. Through my discussions with others it was also interesting to observe how everyone had different motive behind who they retained. For instance, when considering who to save my main goal was the long jeopardy of the settlement so fertility was a common theme I came back to. however, for others they held other variables at a higher importance such as who had access to the most resources, who was most educated and who would be beneficial to help find a cure for space leprosy. I believe all of these things have valid reasoning for consideration; it was interesting to discover how everybody held the importance of each of these factors at a different
