For the moment I chose to use my time wisely and come to college and earn my AA degree in administration of justice. I also try and go on as many ride-a-longs as possible with the Porterville police department so I can learn and have a better understanding what the job is about and what kind of things I will be dealing with one day when I do achieve a career in law enforcement. When it comes to the topic of intrinsic and extrinsic rewards most would readily agree with pink when he states “In environment where extrinsic rewards are most salient many people work only to the point that triggers the reward- and no further.” (Pink p 56). Where this agreement usually ends, however is on the question of is there individuals that work for pure enjoyment. Whereas some are convinced that there is not, others like myself still maintain that there is, because I have applied for volunteer work at the Tulare County sheriff’s office so I can be more involved with the community and help out the community as well. I agree that Csikszentmihalyi is correct because my own experience is that ¬_________My goals have become clear enough to the point where I know exactly what I need to do in order to achieve them. This means that by implementing mastery, it will require as much effort and dedication till I master the position of becoming a police officer. My mastery may unfold over months, years or even longer, but my dedication towards my future career is stronger so I will maintain motivated implementing this one out of the three types I behavior. My overall point to all of this is that I encourage you guys to get out there and fight for what you want, even if people tell you NO, ignore that and keep pushing till you get a yes. Imagine yourself 10 years from now, do you see yourself working in something you do not like doing and only got into it because you let people tell you no you cannot do what you want or do you see yourself working in a career you love because you never gave up when people put you
