Hazel Grace Lancaster is a 16-year-old girl who has thyroid cancer. Hazel’s parents send her to a support group with other teens who also had or have cancer. Here she meets Augustus Waters or Gus. During support group, Hazel and Gus become very close and begin to start a relationship. Hazel and Gus start to see each other more often and their relationship becomes more serious. Hazel shares her favorite book “ An Imperial Affliction” with Gus. As Augustus reads the book he starts to fall in love with it the same way that Hazel did when she first read it.
Ever since reading “An Imperial Affliction“ Hazel has always wanted to go to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is where the author Peter Van Houten lives; Hazel has also wanted to go to Amsterdam
