The story revolves around the protagonist, Amélie who was the only child of two quirky parents. As you have seen in the film, being an introvert, Amélie was extremely hesitant in confessing her love for Nino. Through Dufayel’s advice for Amélie to seize the opportunities instead of letting it slip away and living in constant regret, caused Amélie to open the door to her heart for Nino. This representation of Amélie reminds of how we reacted or hoped to react when it came to capturing the heart of our first love.
The director, Jeunet has offered us this particular vision of the world in the intention to remind us of how innocent and carefree life was before stepping into adulthood. Additionally, the brief introduction of the various characters, the likes and their dislikes in the beginning of the film showed the importance of being thoughtful about the people around us and understand that they also have issues like we do. Through this film, the director wanted the world to view every individuals and experiences, be it sweet or bitter in a positive light.
