On September 11, 2001, 2,996 U.S. Citizens died within hours due to an attack by the al-Qaeda. This was the second attack on US soil, and had the highest death toll. 19 armed members of al-Qaeda hijacked four airplanes and planned suicide attacks on locations in America. Two planes crashed into the twin towers in New York City. A third plane hit the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., and the fourth and final plane crashed in a remote field in Pennsylvania.…
“All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury, is a science fiction short story. Bradbury included a one of a kind setting, superior characterization, and an ending that allowed readers to create their own, using their imagination. The setting was unique and I would have never thought of an imaginable place like Venus. Margot is a shy and frail young girl and we notice this when Bradbury describes that she is an “old photograph” and talks like a “ghost.” Over the years, good short stories and novels have been transitioned into movie adaptation.…

Jealousy plays a big role in the story All Summer in a Day by Ray Bradbury. It illustrates that jealousy can get the best of anyone and lead them to do the wrong to someone blindly. The kids were very excited to know that the sun would be coming soon since the rain had finally stopped. Margot did not seem too stoked about it since she had seen it plenty times before.…
Anna Quindlen talks about how Summer is when kids get out of school. In the first paragraph the Author states about child hunger, and Advertising, also talks about how she thinks of Summer and what most kids do in the Summer. Most kids drink Kool-Aid and wear flip-flops also states how most parents are not around when summer comes because they are working, and kids get to enjoy summer because they are still wrong and been waiting for Summer, so they can relax from all the hard work they did in School. Anna also talks about how some kids don’t get enough to eat because of free lunches and breakfast, most kids have to go to the federal summer lunch program by no food at home or the all you can eat buffet. Everyone has an aspiration to fit in, but it is not worth giving up one's individuality. In Ray Bradbury’s story, “All Summer in a Day”, he tells of children that end up giving up their individual morals, and then regret it. Similarly, in the writings of “Ponies” and “Harrison Bergeron”, the writers KIJ Johnson and Kurt Vonnegut Jr. speak of characters who want to fit in, but end up giving up their uniqueness to do so. They end up feeling remorse about trying to fit in. Fitting in can have a negative effect- causing someone to lose what’s different about them.…
The short story “All Summer in a Day” by Ray Bradbury and the film, “All Summer in a Day” directed by Ed Kaplan, have many similarities but also some differences. The contrasting elements deal with the characters personalities, time frame of years between seeing the sun, and mostly how the story and film ended. For example, in the short story, Margot was known as a shy kid that had no friends. In the short story and the film, Margot believed the sun was coming out even though no one else did.…

In the end, if Margot’s peers would've thought about what would have happened later on after deciding to lock Margot in the closet Margot and everyone else would be ecstatic in this moment in time. However after not simply stopping to think everybody will look at that day and remember the day they had stolen someone’s chance to see the sun or the day that Margot missed the sun. Finally stopping to think about the consequences for your actions is a vital theme in All Summer in a Day, by Ray Bradbury. In this short story there are many times when you can see this theme portrayed throughout. Readers can easily look back and see the times where the characters have suffered from decisions they had made when they did not think about the end result.…
