Since a lot of older Africans do not know how to read and write, they tell their story through dance. African dance can tell a story of their ancestors or other stories throughout history. Africa has many regions and in those regions come with a lot of different ethnic group, which also come with different cultures. For example, in South Africa the dance, Indlamu is a dance that is associated with the Zulu culture. It is originated from the Zulu warrior class of ancient times. In Guinea the dance, Moribayasa is from the Malinke people. The dance is performed by women who have overcome great adversity. They wear old ragged clothes and perform the dance. After the dance is finish they changes clothes and bury the old ones. Another dance that shows their culture is the Warrior dance, which is known as Atamga. The dance symbolizes the men who fought in battle. Even though many dances are for some kind of purpose, African dance can also be just for entertainment.
African dance is so much more than just dancing. To Americans, it just might be a recreational activity, or just another form of dance. But, for the Africans, it is how they praise their gods, how they communicate, and how they pass down their history. Their Dance is part of their religion, tradition, and
