The organization began by providing support for American and Alaskan Natives in the medical field. The values that began the program are still adhered to today. AAIP currently has 464 members. Association of American Indian Physicians provides educational programs, health initiatives, capacity building assistance, and services for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. From High School to Post-secondary education AAIP is identifying, recruiting, mentoring, and preparing American Indian and Alaskan Natives (AI/AN) to experience success in a medical discipline.
