There are many issues that surround Sudan and South Sudan, such as political, economical, and civil liberties issues. Earlier in the 1800s when Britain colonized Sudan, Britain closed off parts of the south and integrated Christianity and the English language. The isolation of the south caused an even larger gap between the two parts of the country, which still has an effect on its problems today. The first civil war that took place in Sudan occurred because the people in the south were upset that the British left, and was now surrounded by Muslim ideas. To prevent the south from getting the autonomy it desired, the southern part of the nation was broken up into three sections, which the south did not like. The war ended with political corruption and tension within the country.
